Thirty years is a long time. Thirty years before I graduated from Liberty High School in 1966, Bethlehem's South Side was a densely populated industrial, commercial and residential community, the economic engine of Bethlehem and the entire region. My grandfather's stationery store on Fourth Street was in the middle of a bustling retail district a few blocks from Lehigh University.
